AKS Legal successfully defended insurance company in a RUB 1 bn precedent-setting case

AKS Legal defended RSKhB-Insurance in an over RUB 1 bn case in the courts of the North-Western District. Kaliningrad-based JSC Pravdinskoye Pork Production Plant (controlled by RBPI Group, one of the top 10 Russian pork producers) claimed damages caused by the loss of 106,000 pigs to African swine fever.  

The opponents demanded full damages. We managed to obtain a dismissal of 70% of the claimed amount. We proved that the spread of the disease within the company was due to the claimant's own actions, so there was no ground for recovering most of the amount.

The case has been pending for almost 2 years, attracted a lot of media attention and received extensive publicity in the region and in the insurance market.
